3 Ways to Make Time for Yourself

Many of us struggle with making time for ourselves. We tend to focus on our significant others, our children, parents, siblings, friends and coworkers. A great amount of our time is spent focused on meeting the needs of others. And this is a great thing! Being selfless is a valued and well-needed character trait in our world. However, we also need to save a portion of our time to meet our own needs as well. My friends, we need to make time to relax, pamper ourselves, and do things that we love to do.


Relax

Our daily life is filled with several obligations such as work, school, kids, and chores. And every day feels like a fast paced track, constantly repeating. Nevertheless, we still need to take the time to slow down and calm our mind and body.

Each day, find a time to do things that are calming to you such as taking a hot bath, reading a book, taking a power nap or doing yoga. This will help you to metnally and physically recharge.


Pamper yourself

We all do so much for others and it’s high time that we do something kind for ourselves. We need to pamper ourselves. And it doesn't need to be expensive either. Pampering activities could include, painting your nails, or doing your own spa day at home.

This being said, we shouldn’t feel bad when we do spend some money on ourselves. We also deserve to get our hair done and treat ourselves to some Starbucks from time to time. Now, I’m not saying you should go out and spend a ton of money. I’m simply saying that doing these things occasionally will give you a sense of rejuvenation.


Hobbies

For some of us, it can be very difficult to continue our hobbies once we have had children. However, it is important that we do. Our hobbies make up a great part of who we are.

They help us to be happy and maintain a sense of self. They bring out our creative side and can make us feel euphoric at times. Break out your old piano books, your sewing kits and your dirt bikes, and show yourself a good time!




Life is fast paced and the clock is always ticking away. Each day we live this fast paced life can make us feel anxious, but it doesn’t have to. Take some time, even during your work week, to slow down. Enjoy some relaxation, enjoy being pampered and enjoy your hobbies. You will be amazed at the difference you feel when you do these things. My friends, it is not selfish to take care of yourself. It is necessary to recharge so that we can take on each and every day with greater strength.
