At the end of the work day it is important to come home and relax. However, relaxing is not always easy to do when you have chores to catch up on, loud decor and drama. These things can clutter our mind and overwhelm us. It can make us feel anxious because we have all these things we need to do. It's time that we make our home a relaxing space rather than anxiety-inducing one.

Keep it organized:

Take time out of your weekend to organize those cluttered areas around the house. You know the ones. Those areas you can't stand looking at because it makes you feel anxious.

One thing I have found very helpful for myself is to give each item a home. This means everything has a place; you have a place for your hair ties, craft supplies, electronic cords etc. Start with one room and slowly work towards the next room. If you ever need help, Pinterest has a great many ideas on how to get started!

Keep it clean:

After you have organized your home, make it a habit to put your things back in their respected places. This will work wonders! Additionally, It can be hard to maintain a very clean home, especially after working all day.

Despite this, cleaning doesn't need to take a long time. A cleaning schedule can be very helpful for this. Divide the chores up by family member and schedule what days each chore must be done. For instance, vacuum the living room on Mondays and Fridays. I was amazed at how well my house stayed clean after a long work week as well as a fun-filled weekend!

Invest in Calming Decor:

Now, I'm not saying go out and buy brand new furniture and a flat screen television. However, adding a plant, a painting or a table top fountain can add so much to the comfort of the home.

Think about different items that are calming to your senses such as plants, music, soft blankets or an oil diffuser. Personally, I love color green. Thus, I have added a lot of green decor to my home and this has helped me to enjoy my surroundings.

Drama-Free Zone:

Finally, let the home be a space that is free from contention. Make an agreement with your family to talk things out no matter the quarrel.

You don't necessarily need to agree, but you should try to understand each other's point of view and be able to compromise (more severe issues may require professional help). We need to let the home be filled with laughter. And we need spend more time together with our loved ones. Always remember that family is forever!

The home can be and should be a safe place where we can forget the troubles of the world. We need to relieve our minds of all things that burden us so we may be able to recharge for the following day. My friends, make your home a relaxing space and a joyous one at that. Take it a step at a time and know that it doesn't need to be an overnight transformation. Always remember that you deserve to come home to a relaxing space!
