Life is made of moments and each of these are gifts in their own way. Many of us have been gifted with the senses of sight, touch, smell, taste and hearing. We are so fortunate to see incredible sunsets and to hear beautiful music. I have always marveled at the way babies explore the world around them and how children find entertainment with the simplest of things.

Life seems fast paced when we are primarily focused on work, school, family and household chores. These are important aspects in our lives that require a great deal of attention and time. When we finally get a few moments to ourselves after a busy day, we may watch Netflix or engage with social media before turning in for the night.

Think about this and reflect on it. When was the last time you put your phone away and enjoyed the world around you? Personally, I am still learning to do this. It can be hard to pull away from our daily routine in order to enjoy these little moments; Moments laughing with family, being out in nature, spending time with pets, and enjoying a meal. However, it is important that we do. Life is too short for us to be spending it on a fast track. Slow down and take in this moment. The song Wild Child by Enya comes to mind, “Ever close your eyes, Ever stop and listen, Ever feel alive, And you’ve nothing missing, You don’t need a reason, Let the day go on and on. Let the rain fall down, Everywhere around you, Give into it now, Let the day surround you, You don’t need a reason, Let the rain go on and on.” There is greater satisfaction in enjoying each moment that time has to offer us. We just have to be willing to slow down.
